I know that it can sound daunting if you haven’t done it, but there are so many things about it that are worthwhile

Let me tell you why I did it

• It’s Healthy – Yes, believe it or not, it’s healthy for your soul and you body. I left because I needed a break, I needed time for me without anyone around. When you travel on your self you take the time to treat yourself such as massage or have your nails done. You are the person planing your adventure and you don’t have to loose time discussing what’s next. I know it’s easy to loose yourself in the “real” world, and traveling solo will give you time to reflect over life and find your broken soul.

• Independency – as a women in a big world it’s easy to loose your independency and when you leave to go traveling you will slowly find it. Don’t get me wrong, I was very independent when I left, however I was listening a lot to what other people wanted me to do and by doing that it wasn’t my decisions how to live my life. Traveling solo means that you are the one that has to find solutions for obstacles along the way and you are the one that has to figure out how to get from A to B.

• Change the way you think – Being a woman I know that we think a lot and I know that we are all raised differently. This means that we all have different believes and values in life, however when you go traveling you will soon realise that there  is a lot out there that doesn’t go hand in hand with your believes. At first I was scared and I avoided being around, but after thinking about it and going  outside my safety zone I soon realised that it’s nothing dangerous and each to their own. It doesn’t mean that I agree whit what was going on, but I understood why some people do different things. It opened my eyes to the world and I started to see things differently.
  

– you probably wonder what I’m talking about, so let me explain it a little bit more clear. I was raised to stay away from everything that has to do with drugs. (I have never tried drugs). However seeing people smoke weed scared me at first, but realising that so many people do it around the world opened my eyes to understand that everyone is different and who am I to judge them. Another thing that was scary was to just throw myself out on an adventure without a plan or staying at hostel and not hotel. Being brought up in a family where we only stayed at resort/ apartments and we only took trips that was planed by other people (nothing wrong with this).

• Trust – Once again, being a women can be hard. Who do you trust, and who do you don’t trust? When we are younger our parents will tell us not to trust a stranger, but when we grow up we have no choice. We soon learn to listen to our gut, or at least that’s how I decided who I could trust. It’s a dangerous world out there and you have to make sure to look after yourself, don’t put yourself in unnecessary dangerous situations. When you travel on your own you will learn how to trust other people, you will build relationship with people all around the world and when you arrive back home you will be glad you decided to trust that person and let them into your life.

• Eye opener – Earlier I spoke about how changes the way you think. It will also open your eyes. You will see things that I can’t even explain. You will look at your life and be so grateful that you are born in a good country, that you have food on your table, a bed to sleep in and the freedom to do what you want. You will look at the world differently and you will think about solutions on how you can help and make a different in this world. After traveling I see the world differently and I want to make a change and make the world a better place.
