10 reasons why I love to live abroad
Freedom – When I decided to move to Australia it was mainly because I wanted freedom. I know it can sound selfish, but it works for me. Living abroad means that it’s all about my life. From now on, I can create my own journey and I don’t have to keep people in the loop if I don’t want to.- Pressure – I found that there was a great deal of pressure when I lived back home in Sweden. When you see everyone getting engaged, married, buying houses, and having kids, it can be a terrible feeling to stand beside not even being close to achieving any of that. When you move abroad you will meet people in the exact situation, they left for the same reasons. We live in a society where having a job, kids and a house is what we are suppose to do, but you don’t have to.
- Different Cultures – This was an eye-opener for me, when you live at home in your protected little bubba you don’t experience this the same way. There is so many amazing cultures out there to see and learn a lot from. After traveling and moving abroad I now look at life very differently.  For me connecting with communities from all corners of the world made me to really embrace diversity.
- Food –Â I love my food and moving abroad gave me the opportunity to try new food and I love it. Nothing tastes the same and I try to explore new food as often as I can.
- Independency –Â You will learn how to be alone. This was one of the most valuable skills in life. I have learnt how to be independent and survive on my own. It hasn’t always been easy, but so far so good.
- Language –Â When I moved I could speak English, but it wasn’t the best. Your skills will improve 100% and you will learn new words every day. I’m still learning a lot after 6 years abroad.
- Materialism – I used to think that driving the latest car or having the latest clothes was all that matters, however after traveling an living abroad I have realised that Materialistic things won’t matter to you nearly as much as experiences and memories
- Friendship –Â As I wrote yesterday it can be hard to make friends, however when you do they mean the world to you. I find it easier to make friends with women from other countries that Australia because I feel more connected to them. I have meet some amazing people from all around the world that will forever be my friend.
- New opportunities – For me this has been an eye-opener. There have been opportunities that I have said yes to, however if I was at home I would probably have turned them down. These opportunities have provided me with more life experience and more knowledge about life. This has helped me to create a different life.
- You start a brand new life –Â This is the my absolute favourite. You know no one, and no one knows you, so you have all the chances in life to start over from scratch. With this I don’t mean lying about who you are, just be who you want to be and make new friend that will love you for who you are.
